Frequently asked questions

How big are the coolrooms?

Our coolrooms come in three sizes – small, standard and large. For exact dimensions and specifications on each of our trailers, please visit our cool room hire page.

You should always have a good understanding about the area you intend to put your cool room in and you should check that there are no low-hanging branches, house eaves, wooden beams etc. that will be in the way.

How do I pick up my cool room?

Simply visit our site on the pre-arranged date and time with your vehicle. One of our team members will meet you to go through the basic functions of your coolroom.

Customers picking up coolrooms will be asked to sign an agreement about keeping the mobile cool room safe and they must present a valid drivers’ license for our records.

How do I pay?

Payment is due upon delivery of the mobile cool room to your site, or when you pick it up from our premises.

We accept cash or cheque.

If you prefer, you can electronically transfer the money a couple of days prior to your event date. Bank details can be supplied upon request.

We charge no extra for weekend or out-of-hours delivery and pick-up.

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver across the Greater Bendigo area, and approximately one hour from our office in Barkers Creek. this includes Bendigo, Castlemaine, Daylesford, Kyneton, and Woodend. We can deliver further by appointment and availability.

What safety measures should I be aware of?

Customers should be aware of the potential dangers of working in a confined space and should refer to best OH&S practice when it comes to lifting heavy items.

To prevent potential problems, all Super Cold coolrooms are fitted with a safety handle on the inside of the door. What’s more, customers are supplied with electrical leads which are tested and tagged annually as per regulations.

We ask customers to ensure their mobile cool room is secured against rolling using chocks under the wheels. We can provide you and/or your staff with a safety brief prior to using your cool room if you require it.

Where is the best place to set it up?

You will need to find a level space which can be accessed by a vehicle. The coolrooms run on standard electricity and a 10 amp electrical lead will be supplied.

A regular three-pin power plug should be preferably within 25 metres of the chosen site. If there is no electrical source nearby, it is possible to run the cool room off a 3kVA generator.

Do we need to set up the cool room ourselves?

If you have experience and are confident with setting up your coolroom, you are welcome to pick it up and take it to your event. You will need a suitable vehicle with a tow ball and connecter plug to do this.

Alternatively, the Super Cold team is more than happy to assist you with set up. We’ll deliver the unit (and pick it up later) at a time that best suits you.

What’s the best way to arrange food inside?

This depends on what you are storing. Most coolrooms have three shelves either side and it’s generally best to use the shelves for more fragile food items such as salads, pies, cakes, desserts etc.

Meanwhile, the floor space is better suited to robust or boxed items.

Make sure you leave space (a few centimetres is fine), between your items and the walls of the cool room to allow adequate air flow.

Approximately how many drinks can be stored?

Our standard sized cool room fits approximately 200 canned cartons (slabs) of beer. When stacking the cartons, it is best to keep them away from walls, as this leaves gaps for air to circulate, allowing the cool room to work more efficiently.

How long does it take for things to get really cold?

This depends on a couple of factors. The first is whether your stock is cold to begin with. If your stock is not refrigerated, it can take up to 24 hours to get everything really cold, particularly when the weather outside is hot.

Give yourself plenty of time. If your event is on a Saturday, arrange for cool room delivery on Friday. That way you can be certain everything is cold for your big day.

Best of all, we’ll deliver your cool room the afternoon/evening before your event at NO ADDITONAL COST*!
(*conditions apply – contact us for more information)

What happens if I’m having problems with my cool room?

If you’re concerned about the performance of your cool room for any reason, give us a call and we’ll go over a number of troubleshooting procedures over the phone.

Most issues are simply fixed, and in many cases there’s actually no problem at all. In the rare case where issues cannot be resolved over the phone, Super Cold will send a mechanic to inspect your unit as well as a replacement cool room if necessary.

How long can I hire a cool room for?

We’re happy to help hire you a mobile cool room for as long as you need it. Contact us for a quote.

Is delivery and pickup included in the hire price?

We’re able to deliver and pick up the cool room. Contact us for a quote for your event. If you’d like to pick up the cool room yourself, we’re located in Barkers Creek.

What are the power requirements for the mobile cool room?

The coolrooms run on standard electricity and a 10 amp electrical lead will be supplied. A regular three-pin power plug should be preferably within 25 metres of the chosen site. If there is no electrical source nearby, it is possible to run the mobile cool room off a 3kVA generator.

Can I use my own generator or power source for the cool room?

The coolrooms run off a regular 10-amp power supply, so can plug into any 3-pin plug at your site. You can also use a generator to supply the power, but it must be a minimum of an 8kva generator.

What temperature are the coolrooms set at?

The coolrooms are set to 2°C, the same as a domestic fridge. They are programmed to fluctuate 1-4°C, and run 4x 30 min defrosts cycles over a 24 hour period to prevent icing up.

Can I adjust the temperature of the cool room to my specific needs?

Yes you can, but you will need to arrange this directly with us prior to your hire.

Are the cool rooms noisy?

Not particularly, but they do run a compressor so will make some noise. The noise may be similar to that of a split air conditioning compressor.

Do you provide shelving or racks inside the cool room for storage?

Yes, each coolroom is fitted with 3 shelves down either side for stacking food and drinks.

What is the minimum and maximum hire period for the cool rooms?

You can hire the coolroom for as little time as you like, however there is a two-day minimum hire charge beginning at $230, regardless of how long you hire it for.

There is no maximum hire period, we have had customers hire a freezer for 5 years!

How do I book a cool room for my event or business needs?

Call us now on 0425 724 307 or 0431 475 399. We’ll provide you with a quote and availability.

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Yes, you can cancel/reschedule a booking. Outside of 24 hours there is no charge. If you are cancelling within 24 hours we require 50% payment.

Are there any additional fees or charges that I should be aware of?

No additional charges aside from the hire and delivery charges, however if customers don’t return locks or leads for any reason, there is a charge to cover those items.

How far in advance should I book a cool room for my event or business needs?

We would recommend for the busy periods such as long weekends and the Christmas/Easter period that you book as far in advance as possible.

For Christmas, we generally advise to have your coolroom booked by early November, and for the March long weekend, booking in January is strongly advised.

Other weekends of the year are generally okay to book with less notice.

The winter is substantially quieter, so we will always have coolrooms and freezer rooms available during the winter months.

Do you match prices?

We offer a price match guarantee. We’re confident that our cool room hire rates are competitive and we know that our service is a cut above the rest.

However, if you happen to find an equivalent Coolroom hire cost in the Bendigo region for a cheaper rate, we will match it.

Price Match Conditions:

  • Competitor quotes must be presented in writing on official documentation or via email
  • Quotes must not be any more than 30 days old
  • Price match will only be offered on equivalent products and services
  • Super Cold has the right to refuse price match guarantee if it deems competitor products/services do not meet the above criteria
